SC Schools: Rex using teachers as pawns.South Carolina's Superintendent Jim Rex told a Senate Finance panel that hundreds of teachers
may need to be fired – this is so he could keep his hundreds of his non-educational administration staff members and
consultants. A budget proposal in the State House would cut funding for schools
by an additional 6 percent or $85 million so he’s attempting to use the teachers as leverage and punish the children
for his inept leadership - this is a disgrace. Under his leadership, South Carolina has become one of the worse public school
systems in American History. There is plenty of money in the school system, if
Mr. Rex would just reduce his administration staff of non-education related buddies and cronies then there would be no need
for more taxes or teachers lay-offs. It’s not the 800+ administrators and consultants that teach the children, it’s
dedicated and qualified teachers.
